About Us

The Camden County Audubon Society is a member-supported, 501(c)3 non-profit chapter of the National Audubon Society. We are dedicated to promoting, coordinating, and supporting the activity of birding and programs that support the welfare of birds within the Camden County, Georgia region.

Our Mission

At Camden County Audubon Society, our mission is to connect people with nature and create a local community dedicated to the education and conservation of birds and their habitats.

Meet Our Board Members

President

Tristen Dittman

Tristen received her Master’s degree in Entomology from the University of Georgia, but has recently taken the Master Birder course and gained a major new interest in birds! Since then, she has become the new President of the Camden County Audubon Society, and loves leading birding field trips and trying to spot new birds for her life list.

Favorite Bird: Swallow-Tailed Kite

Vice President

Jill Helton

Jill has served as vice president of Camden County Audubon since its inception in 2023. She is a lifelong birder, avid bird photographer and wood stork nest monitor for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. She lives in St. Marys with her husband, Mike, also an avid birder, and her two sons.

Favorite Bird: Wood Stork

Treasurer

Loree Scherck

Loree has always been a casual birder. When she got the opportunity to take the Master Birder class, she was very excited to take the next step and become a better birder. She is thrilled that Camden County now has its own birding group. There are so many places close by to see an amazing variety of bird life.

Favorite Bird: Summer Tanager

Secretary

Amanda Carroll

Amanda grew up in upstate New York, where she first fell in love with birding. Birding has since been a lifelong hobby of hers. She is now a recently fledged Master Birder, and she runs an after-school Bird Club. Her family supports her birding hobby, learning more about birds than they ever wanted to, and her daughter is even starting to follow in her footsteps.
