Crooked River State Park
This park is located on the south bank of the Crooked River, a brackish water tidal river. It rises in freshwater wetlands northwest of Kingsland and flows east into saltmarsh. Walk along the park's trails through its different ecosystems, including saltmarsh, maritime forest, and the threatened longleaf pine forest. Due to the different habitat types and easy to navigate trails, this park is a great birding spot in Saint Marys.
Cumberland Island National Seashore

More than 320 species of birds have been seen across the 36,000 acres of maritime forest, marshes, and pristine beaches. Take the ferry from Saint Marys (or private boat) and arrive on the south end. Favorite spots include: the Marsh Boardwalk, Dungeness Ruins, River Trail, Willow Pond Trail, and Christmas Creek.

Ceylon is a 27,000 acre property located in Woodbine that runs along the Georgia coastline. This area features several globally imperiled ecosystems, including a pristine and extraordinary mix of salt marsh, freshwater wetlands, maritime forest, and fire-adapted longleaf pine habitats that attract a variety of birds.
Etowah Park
Etowah Park is a hidden gem in Saint Marys, offering peaceful surroundings and historical intrigue. This area is nestled along a creek that branches off of the Crooked River. Fishing docks and a multitude of birds make this a wildlife lovers prime location. Some areas boast dense foliage, possibly concealing artifacts from the past when the site was a Sugar Mill plantation.
