You don’t want to miss this opportunity to see wild birds up close & personal!
Get a front row seat to see the Jekyll Island Banding Station (JIBS), in operation since 1977. Banders capture and examine migrating birds, collect health data, band, and release them. JIBS shirts are available on-site for $25 for those interested. Funds help mitigate the operating expenses of the station, which is run by volunteers.
We will meet at the Jekyll Island visitor center and caravan to the banding site. Parking is limited, carpooling is highly recommended. There is a $10 parking fee on the island. Sunscreen and bug spray are a must. The location is off the beaten path, comfortable footwear will help on the long, sandy walk to the station.
