About the Event
Join us for after-hours hikes focusing on nocturnal and crepuscular birds, such as nightjars and owls. Participants will learn how to identify the common local species of nightjars, Eastern Whip-poor-will, Common Nighthawk, and Chuck-will’s-widow.
Location: Crooked River State Park - 6222 Charlie Smith Sr. Hwy, Saint Marys, GA 31558
Meeting: We will be meeting at 8:00pm at the Nature Center.
Our target species include our local nightjar species - the Eastern Whip-Poor-Will, Common Nighthawk, and Chuck-Will’s-Widow, and any of our local owl species if we're lucky - the Eastern Screech-Owl, Great Horned Owl, or Barred Owl.
Please plan to bring bug spray and water. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
