Earth Day Announcement

Happy Earth Day everyone! 🌎 Today, we would like to make an exciting announcement.

We are pleased to announce that Camden County Audubon Society has been awarded a Collaborative Grant from National Audubon! We are so excited to present this next project to everyone in Camden County.

Discarded fishing line has been a major hazard to wildlife in our coastal Georgia community, since there are so many fishing access locations and too few disposal bins for fishing line. We have seen many instances of wildlife, especially birds, getting tangled and injured from fishing line, as well as plenty of fishing line carelessly discarded in nature.

Therefore, Camden County Audubon Society has proposed the addition of 8 Designated Fishing Line Recycling Bins to be built and placed around our county! We hope that by placing more easily accessible fishing line recycling bins at various popular fishing locations, people will utilize those, and there will be less fishing line discarded in the environment.

We have a few locations in mind that are in need of one, but we want to hear your suggestions as well! Comment below if you know of any popular fishing locations anywhere in Camden County, GA that are in need of a fishing line recycling bin. 🐟
